Devices running a Beta Software Program must reinstall a publicly released operating system (OS) before the device can receive service. Apple’s software diagnostics are not able to work with beta software. We will be unable to successfully perform repairs until a publicly released OS is installed on the device. A service fee may be assessed if we need to uninstall a Beta OS from a customer’s device in order to complete a repair.

If you would prefer not to revert back to a publicly released OS then please visit https://developer.apple.com/support/Ā for support options.

If you have questions about beta software contact Apple Support, report a bug, review the developer forums.

How to uninstall iOS Beta Software

Remove the Public Beta

The easiest but potentially longest path as you need to wait for the non-beta release of your current iOS is to remove the Public Beta from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch by deleting the beta profile, then wait for the next software update.

  1. Go to Settings > General, and tap Profiles & Device Management.
  2. Tap the iOS Beta Software Profile.
  3. Tap Remove Profile, then restart your device.

When Apple releases the next public version of iOS, install it to revert to a non-beta version of iOS.

If an update is available, you can install it within settings on your device. Settings > General > Software Update.

If you need to immediately restore to a non-beta version of iOS proceed on to the next section to restore your device via a computer.

Immediately restore to a non-beta OS or Remove the Developer Beta

To remove the Developer Beta you must erase and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  1. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer running an up-to-date version of iTunes or macOS.
  2. Put your device into Recovery Mode
    • On an iPad Pro with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Top Button (Sleep/Wake button). Continue holding the Top button until your iPad displays a connect to computer screen after the Apple logo or you receive a notification on your computer that a device is in recovery mode.
    • For iPhone 8 and later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until your iPhone restarts and displays the connect to computer screen after the Apple logoĀ or you receive a notification on your computer that a device is in recovery mode.
    • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, or iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time. Continue to hold the buttons until the device shows the connect to computer screen after the Apple logo or you receive a notification on your computer that a device is in recovery mode.
    • iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad with Home button, or iPod touch (6th generation or earlier): Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Continue to hold the buttons until you see the connect to computer screen or you receive a notification on your computer that a device is in recovery mode.
  3. Click the Restore option when it appears on your computer.Ā This will erase your device!
  4. Wait for the restore to finish.

After the restore finishes, you can set up your device from your archived backup – made before you updated to the beta version of iOS.
